Independent Checker 1

The approval process to be an authorized checker where I work asks "what does it mean to be an Independent Checker".
This has me foxed at the moment.
Anyone enlighten me?
It's relative to the signatory process under the DOA awarded to the company by EASA.

I think it means you need 3 signatures on the doc ... prep'd, checked, approved all different people.

It has been said to me that my original post was vague and difficult to see through and for that I apologise.

Some additional information that I hope doesn't muddy the waters more but will add context to my question.

EASA: European Aviation Safety Agency. The European Union authority in aviation safety.
DOA: Design Authority Approval awarded to an organisation by an EASA regulation know as Part 21J allowing said organisation to perform various design activities and checking independently.

I am in a position of being asked to train to undertake a role that will be subject to the ongoing monitoring that is part of an organisation retaining their DOA status. This means I have to acquire a general knowledge (mainly) of Part 21J and how it impacts on an organisation.

Hence my question on a subject that although I had a general idea of what is means I felt I would like a better insight than the reference material I had to hand.

ok, so your company is applying to be a DOA. There's a lot involved in doing this, a lot of interaction with the regulatory folks (to make sure the regs are being followed). There should be lots of "AC" material around about becoming a DOA and there should be folks to talk to inside EASA who'll help you understand things. and there should be EASA training, which might answer some of your questions, but should give you contacts to ask.
