We plan to transfer ethylene liquid (~50 t/hr,-104 degC) from the plant using piping over a distance of ~7 km into an ethylene tank. By simulation, we expect the ethylene liquid temperature to rise, mainly due to heat gain from ambient. Our ambient temperature is 35 degC year round.

We need to chill the ethylene liquid from circa -83 degC to -104 degC prior to putting it into the ethylene tank to minimize BOG generation.

Appreciate any input on the best technology for chilling the ethylene liquid, prior to entry to the tank.

Many thanks.

Easy and safe way would be to use dry N2 as gas phase refrigerant medium, low on capex too. But check if long term cost ( capex + opex)is lower than BOG recycle and reliquifaction.
