I had a thought and was wondering if this would be possible. I'm not an expert on electromagnetism so I was wondering if someone could answer this for me. Say if you wrapped your arm in a metal wire. What if you built up enough charge on your body through friction, like gliding you feet with socks on through the house, could you somehow force the excess electrons to leave your body through the wires?

Specifically ESD Wrist Strap.

For safety, there's typically a resistor in series to limit current in the event of accidental contact with high voltage. That's a critical safety feature.
