Need to heat several braided rod assemblies at one one for application of solder.

Look in Industrial Heating magazine - there is a monthly section on induction heating with a recent one on coil design.

It is a good article.

We go to Ameritherm for this.

Thank you for the pointer to the magazine article, I'll check it out.
I looked at ameritherm's website, we are in the initial stages of testing the process. We have a decent machine now, just need to be able to process more than one at a time to get the cost down.

Amerithem is closed this week.

We do a lot of unusual carbide brazing. Last year we bought a couple of the little 1 kw Hot Shots systems from Ameritherm largely because of their tech support. (I have been doing brazing consulting for over twenty years and have seen a lot of folks with induction systems and no tech support.) Their lab is very good at designing solutions based on the parts we send them. The closest thing to a problem we have had is when we wanted to buy a couple new shapes for R&D. The salesperson didn’t want to sell them to until he was sure they would work. We just wanted to try a couple ideas and figured $1,000 for two coils wasn’t a whole lot. We contacted Girish Dahake (neat guy) directly and he had them made for us. They didn’t work very well in production but they did teach us a lot.
