Industrial coatings temperature limits

Hi Everyone,
I think we crew up with insulated flue gas ducting paint. Flue gas temperature is 600F to economizer and 450F after. Our fabricator painted ouside surfaces of ducting (including flanges) with prime and Industrial Enamel coat. Although ducting is insulated with 2" thick mineral wool I anticipate problems at least at flange connections. Does anyone knows what is temperature limits for industrial enamels and what can be done now?

You need to get the manufacturer's literature or call the technical support for the continuous use temperature of the specific paint used on the project.

600F is high for the majority of enamels.

There are numerous manufacturers of high temperature paints/coatings that can handle you temperatures.

Hi All,

We have found the following solution.
Since ducting is insulated there should not be any problem painting outside skin with Industrial Emanel. We need to keep bare flanges though since it doesn't have a skin and will heat up much higher than 250F. After bolting together we will put insulation around flanges and put some AL flashings around it. Al flashings will only keep insulation and will be screwed with self tapping crews. We will put some silicon to seal flashings and make it leak proof.
