We have been helping a number of clients determine methods to remove various pieces of equipment in their industrial Gas plants. Normally, we do a 3D scan and then model the parts in solidworks to review the steps to remove the piece of equipment. We have not found a great source for some of the various pumps, motors or other equipment so the modeling sometimes takes longer than we like. In most cases the equipment is very old, and drawings are very hard if not impossible to come by. Many times our interest is only the physical dimensions of the equipment, so having exact models is rarely critical. Can anyone suggest any sites that might have some equipment models? We have not found many useful models on 3Dcontentcentral or Grabcad. We are looking at some other software to work in conjunction with SW, but in most cases this is for you mech guys that need to design/construct the equipment and it far exceeds our needs or budget. We have tried some of the meshing software, but rarely do our scans contain enough information to create a relatively accurate 3D shape.

Thanks

Attached is a sample 3D scan area.

I have not tried that option, but I will. Paying for model data is fine.

Thanks

I'm not sure if any of these will help, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents worth. Sylvia
