Influence of tool holder on the contact between tool and workpiece during external honing

Hello,

I would like to know if the tool holder has an influence concerning
the contact between the tool and the worpiece. After the external honing process,
I noticed that the contact between the tool and the workpiece was limited since
the tool is not completely in contact with the workpiece. The experiments were done with
a steel tool holder. I was thinking about testing another tool holder made of different
materials with a very low youngs modulus but I don't know if it will change the contact
area between the tool and the workpiece.

Thank you for your help

Contact area? Not exactly.

Contact DIRECTION, angle, position, and angle of the tool as it "bends" away from the work under various forces back off of the work as machining (the honing) progresses?

A tremendous difference.

Even in the 1870 machining books, they were DEMANDING stiffer tools, better tool clamps and better, more stiff tooling.
