Hey guys im new at this so dont turn your head in disgust, i promise to make my problems harder over the next 20 years!
An oxygen consumption cone-calorimeter gives a range of results, two of them being the total heat released and peak heat release rate from the specimen.
Can i use this information to calculate the maximum heat rate of a compartment fire according to the sizes of the ventilation openings?
I read somewhere that if the fire was had limited oxygen supply then the heat release rate of the material wasnt needed, a maximum heat release rate could be calculated according to the openings. Which may make a little sense because of the mass flow of oxygen in and smoke flow out restricts the combustion process, but seems a bit ignorant of the type of material that is being consumed.
