Folks,

Is there, and if so then where is the setting for defaulting the 'Information Window' to show when taking a distance measurement? When I measure a distance, I'd like the results to display in the information window by default; I currently have to click on 'results display' and then click the radio button 'Show Info Window' for it to display. Any ideas? TIA...

Regards,
SS

Starting in NX 5, when you open the...

Analysis -> Measure Distance... (or Angle)

...dialog there is now an option at the bottom of the dialog (in the 'Results Display' section) which you can toggle ON to display the results in a listing window after you make your selections. And while this may at first not appear to be all that different then the behavior of pre-NX 5, what's new is that 'Dialog Memory' will now REMEMBER that you toggled it ON the last time and until you toggle it OFF in the future, it will continue to automatically display the results in a listing window whenever you perform a measurement.

I just want to add one detail...

The "dialog memory" will only work if you choose "OK" when you're finished using the measure tool.

If you hit the escape key or choose "Cancel" to end measuring, the dialog memory will not update.

Starting in NX 6, no matter how you leave a dialog, any changes made will be saved in Dialog Memory. Many people had requested this since sometimes you enter a function, set a bunch of stuff, then realize that there was something you needed to do first so you 'Cancel' or hit 'Esc' or just select the next function, only to go back a minute or two later and have to reselect all of the stuff over again.

Also note that in NX 6 if you complete an operation with an 'Apply', even if you then cancel out of that dialog, the next time you enter it, the 'Apply' will be the 'Default-Action' (Green) which you can select using MB2 (Middle Mouse Button) which is generally more efficient since it does not require as much mouse navigation.

Gents,

Thanks much. Twas the 'OK' thingy that did it (seems I've developed a habit of canceling/applying and not hitting 'ok'). Anyways, here's your star. :-)

The persistent 'Apply' or 'OK' functionality in NX6 is a nice touch.
