Ladies/Gentlemen:

I am looking for descriptive information on the following steel types:

1.2344
1.2365
1.4542

Do you know a web site which will discuss these in depth in terms of their characteristics and uses?

Or can you recommend a book for the same purpose?

Thanking you in advance, I am,

Hi Tom,

the grades you listed are:

1.2344 - H 13
1.2365 - H 10
1.4542 - 17-4 PH

1.2344/1.2365 are standard grades of hot work tool steel. 1.4542 is a precipitation hardening stainless steel.
I imagine you can get some information from producers websites in the US.

You should be able to get some info

If you cant find anything ill let you have some books names.

Regards
Richard

Mr. Buss gave you a good recommendation-- visit supplier websites. I have found the following to be most useful:

Carpenter
click on Technical Information then Alloy Category then Stainless Steels or Tool and Die Steels

Timken Latrobe
H10 & H13 are under Hot Work Tool Steels

Crucible

Bohler North America
click on Hot Work Tool Steels

Allegheny Ludlum
click on stainless steel or tool steel

For references, you cannot beat ASM International. In addition to ASM Handbook Volume 1 (steels) and Volume 4 (heat treating), they offer several others focused only on tool steels. Use the following link for more information:
