Hello,

This is my very first post. Hello all! Name's Ben, pleased to meet you.

I started using ABAQUS yesterday for a university honours project. What I want to do it compare a real life fatigue test rig to a computer simulation.

I am inputting a cycle of 8 force ranges into the DARTEC fatigue testing machine.

I want to do the same on ABAQUS.

Can I the input ACSII .txt files that I can export from the fatigue testing machine in real life to the software in ABAQUS?

If not how do I input complex force/strain cycles in ABAQUS.

I can do -2kN to 2kN until it breaks.
But what if it went -2.321kN to +0.001kN
-0.3kN to -0.2kN
-0.5kN to +0.05kN

pour example

Thanks,
BLAMETRUTH

What you try to do is something a fatigue cade is designed for. In Abaqus you can run a static or dynamic analysis of one cycle, but if you want to know how many cycles can be done before the material fails, then you have to take these result and reuse it in a fatigue code like fe-safe.
