Dear all!

I have question about the coating materials: Chromium. In the drawing, I read that there is the CM2 (colored Chromium - which is explained by the Engineer in my company). is that the colored Chromium much functionally different to normal Chromium? is that much costly than normal Chromium (actually, i dont see any different color in yoke materials, it's just white +_+).

the other thing i heard some people said that Cr3 is harmful to the enviroment while others said it was Cr6??? so which is true, pls advise.

One last thing is the material of Yoke, it is made of SPEC, what's that? i knew there is SPCC (sort of cooled steel) but there is no suggestion on this one in the internet. pls help

Wish you good day

Cr +6 is a known carcinogen and is heavily regulated.
This is why you see little Cr platting any more, it is difficult to keep Cr+6 out of the waste.

I doubt it is straight chromium plating. It is far more common to do a Zinc coating with Chromate conversion. Ed is right that Cr+6 (often called hexavalent chromium) is a problem and many magnet vendors have switched.

A zinc coating with a trivalent zinc chromate conversion does appear whitish.

I have no idea what SPEC or SPCC is. If your company is the one specifying the yoke material, you should look for internal documentation or send a sample out for chemical analysis.

Thanks EdStainless and MagMike

My company is not specilized in Yoke at all, it is just one of the materials used for the capsule, I just want to study this one on our company specification.

By the way, are you happened to know any website on the Yoke[about its function, materials...], pls show me! (pls refer to the attached file for its shape - because i don't know how to describe it +_+)

Thanks for your kindness.

Wish you good day

Dear all!!

Could you pls show me the exact name of this product? i have checked in the Net for days to find the supplier for this one, but got stuck. pls advise me if you know where to buy it, and its true name (in the Spec stated Yoke, but i found many kinds of Yoke which is not like this one at all)

Pls refer the previous attached file for the photos

thanks for your kind help

I have no idea what the exact name of that product is, but it looks like a piece of stamped steel. It is likely a custom product for a specific device. I doubt you'll find it as a standard product from a supplier.

You'll need to measure all the relevant dimensions and work with a metal stamping house.
