Insert Annotation on a part

Hi all

How do you write a message on a part, not the drawing. I've looked at the annotation buttons but have found nothing.

I'm sure that I've done it before, but I can't remember how to.

2 options here:

1) in modeling go to Insert -> Curve -> Text...

2) switch to drafting and turn off the sheet display (if necessary) this will leave you in what appears to be modeling, but with the drafting toolbars. From here you can add notes (annotation objects), be aware that the note will be oriented to the current WCS (on the X-Y plane). Reorient the WCS as needed before adding notes.

I should have said that I'm doing a sheet metal part, and I can't find it. It's not under insert>curve.
But when I in modelling, it's under insert>curve.

Insert the text in modeling and then switch back to sheet metal.

You'll get some sort of warning when you switch to modeling, something about not all modeling features are supported in a sheet metal part. This is a warning that if you modify the part in modeling you may not be able to flatten the sheet metal part later (if you add some swoopy free form flange, for example). Add ing a text note shouldn't invalidate your sheet metal part, but it may not move with the face when the model is flattened (I'm not sure about that). Save a copy of your part and give it a shot.

If your workflow requires that you add 'text' as curves to your Sheet Metal models, there's nothing stopping you from toggling ON the 'Curve' toolbar while in NX Sheet Metal and then turning on the 'Text' icon so that you can access it without ever leaving Sheet Metal.

Cowski or anyone else: What is the differences on the output between your second alternative (insert annotation in drafting mode) and inserting a PMI note?
