I have multiple sheets in the project drawing (castings, details, assemblies, etc). I have an existing detailed drawing that I want to add as "insert sheet". I can insert a view, but not the corresponding sections, details, etc. Is there any way to do this?

I don't think you could do this. The way SW drawing files work and reference models it is not really a simple logical issue to just insert one drawing into another. Put in an enhancement request if it is really important to you on an ongoing basis - but don't hold your breath inless at least 30k other people ask for it too.

I was - and he did. So at least I didn't get coal.....
OK, OK, It's a reference to my holiday sig. "Be naughty - Save Santa a trip..."

Thanks for the response; it would not have been a problem if I had known the road was "dead end". -Monkeywrench

Yup, figured that....... Oh well, we all make some errors learning new systems. At least you have a good attitude - no whining. That's refreshing. My compliments to you.

yeah I agree it should be requested as an enhancement,

Advanced copy/paste options: "copy all associated views and notes?" y/n ;-)

I have fallen into the same trap monkeywrench (learned pretty quickly) :-D

Why can't you highlight all the views (Ctrl- Mouse Pick all the Details, Section views, etc..) and do an Edit\Cut then highlight the new drawing and click Edit\Paste?

That has worked for years and still does in SW04. When you do a Edit, cut it asks you if you want to delete them you just yes and then paste them.

Scott: WOW - that works! One star for you. I'll use this often since I keep all drawings for the project in one file and occasionally add existing drawings to the file rather than create them there. Thanks for the tip. -Monkeywrench
