This may be a dumb question without a solution but I have to ask...Is there a way to to insert a digital picture in an AutoCAD drawing and have it print out. Some of the engineers here want to be able to do this - I didn't think it was possible but they say it's going to save time for what they want it for.

If anyone knows please let me know. I appreciate it.

Thanks!

I've done it with 2000 INSERT>RASTER IMAGE
with moderate success with PCX images.
With R12 I didn't have any luck at all as the images all looked like garbage.

I have pasted digital satellite photos under 3d models of buildings to do site layouts and renderings. The photo is resized using reference points within the model (it has handles that can be dragged into proper position). The photo should be placed on a separate layer and moved under existing entities with the "move to bottom" command.

you can save the image as bmp or jpg and use image manager
and attach the picture to your cad file and then print it

Yes you can do it, but it's a pain. OPen the photo is your regular photoediting program and copy it to the clipboard. Open Acad and go to Paste/Special in the pull down. Experiment with the options to get what you want. The snag is when you print it doing this in R14, it will insist on printing the photo in 'landscape', no matter what orientation the paper is. Sounds weird, but you'll see what I mean when you try it. You'll have to distort the picture on the screen to get it to look right when you print it. It's a bit of a bug that they fixed in 2000.
