I am trying to insert a portion of a Pdf file onto my drawing. All that I want to see is a portion of the Pdf.

I selected a portion of the Pdf and put it into model space. I then created a viewport. When I try to plot nothing shows up.

I believe that the problem is that I am using a black background for my drawing. The Pdf is black so nothing shows up.

I am running CAD 2005. Any help would be appreciated.

corvette63,

how did you insert a *.pdf...? As an OLE-Object?

Try creating an image from the PDF by using save as and select .png extension for example, then insert the image into model space, scale appropriately then use image clip to show just a portion of it, Good luck,

You can also use the "snapshot tool" in Acrobat to select the graphic (up to a full page) and then paste it into AutoCAD. Graphics captured that way seem to be pretty good resolution.

I have software that will convert a PDF to a TIF image. It was developed expressly for the purpose of inserting into AutoCAD. If you would like to try it, email me at trinkit@sbcglobal.net.

To insert *.pdf file into ACAD, first make sure that you have a version of the adobe acrobat in your computer.
From the ACAD screen: INSERT pull down menu> OLE object> INSERT OBJECT> from the Object type menu the Adobe Acrobatversion listed> from the OPEN dialog box find your file and open, the file is then automatically inserted in the ACAD drawing screen.
