I would like to insert and link a Microsoft Word file in my DWG file using OLE w/Autocad LT 2007. I set up a 2 column Word file that uses a custom page size 13" wide and 17" tall. I am using 12-point Arial text and 18-point Titles. this corresponds roughly to 1/8" text and 3/16" titles. The file comes in very large. I can go to the properties page and change the width or height, but the bottom part of the page is cut off. Autocad LT want to bring the document in square or very close to square.

So if I change the width to 13" to match the document, the height changes to 13" since I want to lock the aspect ratio. If I allow the aspect ratio to change, the text gets really crazy. Any secrets to making it work with my software? I am using MS Word 2007 and Autocad LT 2007.

I remember wasting a couple of hours trying to do something similar with what must have been Word ~2003 and full AutoCAD ~2003 or so. It worked well enough for a lazy programmer to be able to say "It Works!", but not well enough to actually use.

I had somewhat better results with Excel, but the combination was still quirky.

This might explain why anyone might encounter problems with OLE:

Thanks Mike... that's probably the best OLE writeup I've encountered.

I think you can copy the text into your paste buffer in Word the past it into the note editor in AutoCAD. If there are images in the Word document I image it would be done in the same way. It was so long ago I did it that I don't recall if it works :).
