when i insert a picture into SolidWorks(2001pus) it automatically defaults to stretch itself within the entire working window

How do I get the picture to insert at 100% size?

There is probably a check box within the options dialogue box, but i can't find it anywhere

Any help would be appreciated!

thanks
John

JOhn,

There is no way to "set" a default insertion size for an image to be 1:1. because of the nature of pictures, and it being difficult to insure their appropriate (life-size) from the get-go, solidworks has made it a standard that the picture is inserted with its (0, 0) coordinate loacated at the sketch origin, and additionally, the initial size of picture is determinied byt the number of pixels. SWX uses the covention of 1 pixel/mm, and locks the aspect ratio. At this point, if you know the original size of the picture, and the number of pixels, you can figure out what scale factor you should use as a starting point to get the sizing in the ball park.

Dont trust this though.... if you have a component in the picture of known size, draw a couple of lines and use the measure tool to determine if you are okay at that scale factor. If not, adjust it as required. For this reason alone, I prefer to have my pictures taken with something in them of known size for just that purpose, such as a machinists scale, or for most industrial design applications like their "tape drawings", grid lines are a very good thing!

Hope that helps.

Regards,
Jon
