I have an opportunity to join a forensics firm FT. Currently am in industry on a great career path, but this opportunity sounds interesting. What is the good, bad and ugly of this industry? What is it like to work at these firms? If it does not suit me, I am wondering what types of career paths are open to me? Can one go back to industry?

Thank you for the help!

I did it for a year, did not enjoy the work, so I left to strike out on my own. What I hear is - either you love it or you hate. I hated.

It is difficult to describe what I did not like about it. It was not stressful or demanding. The company was very supportive, professionally run, and any resource you needed - a tool or a reference - you got.

Your product is a written report that has to be defendable in court. You have to be careful what you write or it could blow up at trial. With a little practice, it is not too bad.

You're either critiquing or reverse engineering someone else's design, so not a creative effort, at least, not creative engineering.
