White corrosion products are observed on the galvanized steel piles within a month, some minor and some more severe. The client shared some photos of the piles. The surface looks uneven, and some spots are not coated or the coating peeled off. Is there any protocol for inspecting the galvanization other than measuring the thicknesses? My assessment is the storage condition may have contributed to the white storage stains, but I am afraid the quality of the galvanization may also play a role. I am not sure how to prove or disprove the galvanization quality though. Any insight is appreciated.

Consider also contamination from carbon steel which can be in close proximity, used for handling etc.

Per ISO-4126, only the term Safety Valve is used regardless of application or design.

Visit the American Galvanizing Association website. They provide a good deal of information on the subject of "how to" galvanize properly, i.e., from the design stage to preparing the material for galvanizing to inspection of galvanized material.
