I looked at instance feature since NX5. I followed an example John shown (I liked). A flanch with instanced sketch and the new hole. Now I want to do component field with those holes and a bolt. Doesn't work or what I have done wrong? Iset only works with the instance hole?

Component array from instance feature only works on geometry that has been copied using 'Instance Feature'

Instance geometry creates the same end result (holes in a flange) but the component array does not recognise it as an instanced feature.

So in this case use a simple hole, create an array feature, then use ISET OR use Instance Geometry and accept the limitations of a manual component array.

I've only tested this in 5, Perhaps John B will have a little more detail on the limitations of this, it's a couple of years since I worked for Siemens..

Nothing has changed with respect to Instance Feature and Instance Geometry, however there is an R&D project currently underway which will provide both a consolidation of as well as enhancements to the 'instance' capabilities of NX, but it will be a couple of releases before all of it's impact will be felt throughout the product.

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

The short answer might be that for the moment only the circular array provides the convenience of being able to mate the bolt to the inferred instances.
