I've been asked to put together a talk for our line supervisors on proper selection of instrument transformers for metering and for relaying purposes. (It sounds like vendor reps are visiting them and getting them confused on the facts.)
I have some old books on inst. trfmrs that I can reference, but does anyone have a line on any good papers or newer reference books on this topic that I can look into?
Thanks for your help.

Suggestion: References:
1. IEEE Std 141-1993 (Red Book)
Section 11.8.1 Current Transformers
Section 11.8.2 Voltage (Potential) Transformers
2. ANSI/IEEE Std 242-2001 (Buff Book)
Chapter 3 "Instrument Transformers"
3. Since there is no voltage level indicated in the original posting, the high voltage, extra high voltage, etc. high voltage instrument transformer literature is avalable from the manufacturers. The book and paper treatment of those is somewhat scattered.

Just make sure you cover CT ratio selection and the use of rating factor. The selection of CTs is not well understood and many large meter shops do not apply them correctly!
