I am in the prelim phase of this idea and trying to see if anyone has come across this. We have a slab on metal deck and would like to have insulation above the slab. I am thinking something like what they do in precast sandwich wall panels, where they have a structural panel, then insulation, then a thin ~2" architectural "topping" panel on the exterior face. The exterior panel has embedded WWF and is connected intermittently to the structural panel with FRP connectors.

I've not seen this on a floor cross section, just walls. Has anyone else? Obviously it is not a 'structural' detail but it would be partially exposed to the elements, so we need to ensure it's waterproofed appropriately above the structural slab. I am also curious how we would handle control joints in the topping slab. Any thoughts appreciated.
