I would like to know what is integral earthing. We have recently installed two 6.6kV vacuum circuit breakers and the contractor quoted an additional cost for integral earthing.

I would like to know the purpose and benefits of integral earthing and is there other types of earthing regarding circuit breakers.

This a real shot in the dark but:
Special breakers are often available which rack into empty cells to ground the load side stabs for maintenance purposes. This "integral ground" breaker may have this function built in such that load side stabs are automatically grounded after the breaker is open.

Another possibility, depending on the vendor, is that all circuits are fitted with a circuit earth, but specific breakers are designated for busbar earthing duty. Typically board incoming breakers would be equipped for this duty.
