Anyone using their CAD software database link capabilities to other data sources?

Is there any tangabel benefits to go from simple CAD drawings using lines, circles, arcs, ect for drawings normally associated with electrical equipment installations and operations?

Are circuit analysis available using intelligent drawings?

The benefits of using DataBased products ... is that ... in theory ... once your blocks have been placed in the plan you can globally edit OR update the "GRAPHICS" or "INPUTTED DATA" from outside of AutoCAD in ONE SHOT!
Other benefits are calculations that can be done ... IF AND ONLY IF ... the needed input has been inputted by CAD user in the block.

But the "PITFALLS" are you're doomed to deal with bugs yet to be resolved due to BAD PROGRAMMIMG [evil].

We tried CADPlus ...
And it was alright but it did have bugs and the client had these OUTRAGEOUS standards which seemed ridiculous. The combination gave us a sour taste for CADPlus.

I'm sure there's others out there but that's my experience here.

Hope that sheds some light.
