intelligent P&ID software

Hello,

What are the better softwares for creating intelligent P&ID's? database driven, item tagging, valve, instrument, linelist reports etc. Non-cad people need to be able to fill in meta-data that is reflected in the drawing. We're just fed up with Autocad P&ID (plant3D) and are looking for some better alternatives.

Any suggestions?

May take a look of Smartplant program which can do P&ID, instrument/control, piping 3D, material, etc.
Also, suggest to post this question in other Forum per your specific application, such as Chemical Plant, Piping, or Control System..

I found LucidChart from a resource I found about P&ID symbols from Assured Automation my automated valve supplier. It is very simple to use and there is a free trial available. I have not used it in a database driven project, and I don't know if that is a feature or not.
