hello

I have studied about Ag-based alloys and I need to cast a Ag-sn-cu alloy in a 316L . But I don’t know that this alloy reacts by 316 L or not? Could you possibly help me? It mustn’t enter any impurity in the molten. And the melting point of the alloy is about 700 C.

Tin (Sn) content promotes wetting on Stainles Steel. This should not be a problem.

You should be OK at that temp.
If you go hotter you will get liquid metal embrittlment of the SS.
Look phase diagrams and you will see some low melting eutectics that can form.

Why did you select 316 alloy. Ordinary cast iron would have served the purpose .
