Interaction module in ABAQUS

I am having issues with the Interaction module in ABAQUS, and the several tutorials I've found online don't seem to address this issue. Basically I'm modeling the compression of a cylinder, and for some reason the post-compression results don't look like they should be. I attached the images as below.

I expected the cylinder to be compressed such that majority of the cylinder surface post-compression is contacting the top and bottom blocks. However, as you can see from the results, Only the initial portion is connected. I also attached the Assembly picture and a zoom-in on the cylinder (I made the top and bottom slightly flat for initial contact). I might be doing the Interaction module settings wrong but I have no idea why it's behaving this way, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

P.S. I only have the Elasticity values in the material properties, could that be an issue?

Hi crustaccione,

How are you simulating the compression of the cylinder and what material properties have you employed to describe the behaviour of the plates/cylinder?

Regards,
Dave
