Hi

I have been struggling for a while now to get my webcam to work while not attached to a pc, but to a DSP. I have to do this for a project, but can't figure it out. The webcam needs some or other initialization and probably a timing signal to operate. Somehow, I have to capture the initialization procedure that the computer software uses, and simulate it on the DSP, but I have no idea how I'm gonna do that.

The setup is: webcam connected to a USB to parallel interface IC, and onto the DSP.

I contacted Logitech, but the tech support say they are not allowed to tell me anything.

Any help appreciated!
thanx

Richard,
I have a similar project where I want to use a webcam for a visual system either through a linux laptop or DSP. I was wondering if you had any luck interfacing with your webcam. Or if you could tell me how to work with your webcam through a normal PC I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi

I am still around even though I do post very frequently any more because the nature of my work changed to a higher level integration.

Regarding the interfacing of the webcam... I decided not to use the webcam in the end because of time constraints. I got hold of a different camera which had digital outputs with which the camera could be configured and the images downloaded, and was thus much easier to interface.

Interfacing the camera to a "normal PC" was straight forward, as it came with MS Windows software, which was installed, and the rest was plug and play.

Hope this helps :)
Richard
