Internal and external rotor 1

Please, can anybody explain me the difference between internal and external rotor ?

Internal rotor is the standard way of doing things.

Sometimes, you need the motion to be on the outside of the motor. Like ceiling fans, conveyor rolls and also HVAC fans.

So, you just turn the motor outside in. Windings in the stationary "rotor" and the squirrel cage inside the outer "stator", which is now a rotor.

External rotors have good cooling and are often made with resistance rotor winding that makes them suitable for simple voltage control. Mostly in sub HP fans.
