I have a PRT file that I cannot open due to an internal error. Naturally I am 75% done with the design and the due date is looming, so I cannot afford to start over. The file is only 3MB, and I made the file. I used it the other week, now I have moved to my new house and all of a sudden I get this error. So I made a simple CAD file, saved it, and it opens.

Also, there is an older "saveas" version of this file I had used for a mockup earlier, this one also will not open, so it isnt just a random hickup during a save operation.

I have tried opening in NX2 and obviuosly it said this is from a newer version, ive tried external translations but they fail.

Any suggestions?

Time is very short so your help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Keith

Contact GTAC. Internal errors are too complex to troubleshoot without there tools.

You can export the solid bodies as parasolids using ug_inspect.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

ugdesignw,

I too have been faced with this error.

I have discovered that I can do the following:
1) Close ALL parts
2) Open the offending part. Click "OK" if you still get the error.
3) Now, you just might be able to click on the 'Window' drop-down menu and see that 'More...' is now available. If so, click it.
4) Is your file listed? If so, click it. If not, then I am afraid that GTAC might be in order.
5) If it does load, then I immediately do a 'Part Clean-up'. This usually gets rid of the error for me.

Remember, the key is that you have to start with NO parts loaded in NX.

I hope that this helps!

"Is it licenced or not?"
I bet not. The internal error issue is very common with NX3 using pirated versions. It works for a few days or weeks - then the files don't work.

Now, I "could" be wrong (not). But there is command line UG utility to rebuild the model outside of the application but I don't have UG in front of me. I'm sure GTAC could help him.

wmalan,

No offense intended, but all of our licenses are current (NX3) and our maintenance is good through 12/31/2006.

The files that I see the Internal Error occuring on are files that we have created in-house.

Now what?

As I have detailed above, these are the steps that I have found that help me out.

Chris,
No offense to you. I'm certain Clevland Golf is very legal. The OP was suspect. Only one post amd for internal error. Very common with the crack versions.

Does NX3 still have that command line program for checking part files? Something like ug_validate.exe. Also like I said, UG suppport has be awesome when I needed it.

Hi Keith,
Try to change the date of your computer to the date of drawing. You can check the date of drawing with checking the properties of drawing. Then try to open that file.See if it works???

Of course, if it is an illegal license issue, GTAC will not help the person with the illegal license. They will help if you have a legal license and have received a file from someone who created/edited it with an illegal license.
