Hi

I have a problem when I share a parasolid file with other user, actually I have NX8 and the other user has NX7., when the user open the parasolid file and try to "save" or "save as" (.prt) one message appears "INVALID FILE NAME". I proved the same file in my work station and it works well.
Some one of you know why appear this message in NX7, when I try to save the file in .prt?

Thanks in advance

Tom

If it's not possible to provide the actual NX 8.0 Parasolid file, could you at least provide us with the exact text string used in the file name?

When you export the parasolid file from NX 8, you may have to pick a parasolid version to export to that is compatible with NX7.

Cowski, that's NOT it. We think we know what the problem might be but we have to at least see the exact text used in the name to be sure.

It was a long shot, I'll admit; since I doubt the file would even have opened on NX7 if it was from a newer version. Still, it is something I have seen trip up users, and thought it was worth a mention.

Should TomMtz open an IR with GTAC?

If TomMtz tells us exactly what the text string was that he was using to name the Parasolid file exported from NX 8.0 I may be able to tell him in a matter of seconds what he needs to do to resolve the problems as there WAS a very subtle change made in NX 8.0 which may cause the 'problem' that he as encountered. However, without seeing at least the exact text string used for the name, we would only be speculating as to what might have happened.

The picture does not help. We suspect that we know what's causing the problem, but it has nothing to do with the the model nor the version of Parasolid that was exported. It involves the NAME of the NX/PS part files. Please either show a image where we can see the name of the Parasolid file or the original NX 8.0 part file that you were exporting. We need to see ALL of the characters used in the name exactly as your system is showing it to you.

As a check, try opening that Parasolid file in NX 8.0. I except that it will open just fine.

John

I made a test using another workstation with NX7 and the file (*.x_t) worked without problems, we will to re-install the NX7 in the lap top where we have the problem.

OK, but if you've still got a problem, please get back to us so that we can look at the file name that you're using.

Hi

We re-installed the NX7 and we can save and load (*.x_t) parasolid files without problems.

Thanks a lot for your comments

Best regards

Tom
