WE have a motor which will be driven by an inverter, this is for a gas/gas heater. The supply to the inverter panel is 480V,3ph,60Hz. the client has also confirmed that 110Vac,1ph,60Hz is available for heaters etc. The client then asked us to put a transformer in the inverter panel to derive this 110Vac,1ph,60Hz from inside the panel. Why would they do this for this motor and not for other motors such as the HP pump and purge fan. Could it be because these motors are DOL and so do not have a panel?

any advice is greatly welcomed.

Thanks

It could be for all sorts of reasons. I would not hesitate to ask the customer, "Hey, I'm curious, why .....".

The customer is usually happy to explain their reasoning. The more informed all parties are the better the results.

Besides any reason we give will probably be wrong.
