Involute gear cutter sizes

Good day:

I am trying to learn how to cut gears and am finding very little information to go on. For example I have come to realize that each involute gear cutter is more or less for one specific task. I have also learned that they are either Module or DP and that they are in reverse order Module designated from small to large and DP from large to small. The only thing I have not been able to find is a comparison chart showing each size and what gear diameter it will cut. For example I would like to start of by cutting a few small 1.5 to 2 inch gears and am at a loss of which size cutter to buy. I would really appreciate any information you guys could share, including any books, website you could recommend for novice such as myself. Thanks in advance for your time an effort in helping me . You will have to understand how cutters can undercut the profiles on small numbers of teeth if the teeth are standard. It is dependent on pressure angle and also whether you are cutting full depth, stub, or long and short addendum gearing ie profile shifts. You might be safe in assuming 24 teeth as a minimum until you learn more.

each gear must be calculated to verify that the cutter
will work, there are so many variables.

for instance the AGMA or ISO quality of gear required, the quality of the cutter.

is the D+F of cutter correct for the whole depth of the gear. Tooth Thickness to root diameter correct.
is it pre-grind or finishing.
