Hello,
We have a vsd running signals to a plc. The signals are deemed soft io, they will be transferred over profinet to the plc.

My question is how is this shown on the IO list as we can only choose from AI,AO,DI,DO

For example do we say that the VSD running signal is a DI to the plc with a note to say over profinet or do we change the IO type to “soft IO”?

Thank you

Add another column to the I/O list for Comm I/O or Soft I/O or whatever the committee decides on.

If you are using a Siemens PLC, the I/O for the VFD will appear in the I and Q data space. Typically the data to/from a VFD consists of both discrete data and analog data. In addition, at least some for that data is fixed and can not be changed. You need to get a list of data that the VFD sends over ProfiNet from the VFD manufacturer.

Thank you for the replies.
