Is there any standard recommending certain IP ratings for indoor switchboards (motor control centres)?
I know that for indoor boards IP41 is quite standard with board manufacturers.
Also, what proof can one ask of a manufacturer to satisfy oneself that his boards comply to his claimed IP rating?

Dear Yaya,
IP 41 should not be a problem if use are using it absolutely inside.
All the standard manufacturers has got their prototype boards tested with National Laboratories for the parameters like IP rating and short circuit withstand capacity. You may ask your supplier to submitt those prototype test certificates . That will fairly assure you about the quality level of your supplier.

Hi,
you can refer to IEC 529 on IP ratings of the switchboards.
Regarding proof, you can request for type test certificates of the switchboards. If I'm not wrong , the IP rating is included in the type tests. You can refer to IEC 60439-1 on type tests verification, section 8 : Test specifications.
