I work with slag glass that is left over from the Iron Ore Smelters in Michigan.
These smelters operated in the late 1800's. As far as I know, they used Iron Ore from the UP in Michigan, Lime for flux and Hardwood Charcoal. I have also hears they might have used Dolomite.
These same companies would also produce Wood Alcohol, Tar, Tar Products and Acetate of Lime for the manufacture of Acetic Acid as a separate business.
My question is this. Am I at risk from handling the slag and grinding it down?
Any help would be much appreciated.
