Is Dry-Lube a finish?

The specification we are dealing with come from Boeing. The specification states that ALL dimensions are BEFORE finish. The ID of the bearing is coated with .0002-.0005 dry lube. The before dry Lube diameter is .9995-1.0015. IF dry lube is NOT a finish then the end diameter would be in the range of .9985-1.0011.
So the question is "IS DRY_LUBE CONSIDERED A FINISH?"

I would consider dry film lube a coating. however it is a friable coating. in other words it will or can be removed during service.
dim's should apply before dry film lube. In my line of work this is how it is done. don't make it harder on yourself.
All my customer have designed their parts this way. 37 + years.

I think the better interpretation of the note in your case is the size of the part before the dry film is applied. Dry film is usually burnished down (to the .0002-.0005 that you stated best i recall) before the initial assembly. Sometimes the designer will account for the added size of the part with the film and use the "before coatings and finish" note. I usually prefer in the case of dry film to get the part "after coatings and finish".

But if you are looking at a substantial qty of parts, it can't hurt to ask before machining and get this clarified for your particular case.
