I have some background in shoring design, but never was able to study closely technical operations. I hope to get some answers for my questions below:

1. Is it possible (or common) to attach a tricone drilling head to a solid stem auger? Or are the claw bit the only available option?

2. Is it possible (or common) to use drilling fluid with hollow stem auger? If yes, then the fluid would pass in the hollow part of the auger, right?

3. Are the core barrels used to advance in rock formation (and retrieve rock samples via additional inner sampler) closely related to the regular casing one might use around a dragbit attached to rods in a sandy watery layer? I mean, can the same core barrels be used with the dragbit, or are the diameter completely different?

4. Is is always possible to add en extension length to the casing and to the drilling rod without removing all the drilling rods from the pit, by using only personal strength (no crane), or is there any limit on the weight? I presume the way to do it is to hold both new lengths (the casing and the rod) inside each other and to feed them to the drilling rig at once.

5. how is fluid passed through drilling rods? This would mean that drilling rods are hollow, and that the connection cannot be other than threaded, right?

I hope this not too much asking. Please help even if you do not know all the answers :)
