Is loft the best way?

I have been using Inventor for less than one year (Currently running inventor 11), so I am not sure how to do something. I will try to explain what problem I am having. I am in the aquatics industry, and I am having a difficult time trying to create zero entries. Zero entries are basically a sloped surface. However, the contour lines at different water depths are not the same shape and pool edges are usually curvy and not straight. I created one using loft, but ended up with a funky bump out at one corner at the pool floor. I am also unsure how to create a thickness for the floor.

I have gone through the tutorials, I am just having a hard time understand how to do lofts with curved lines on different plans - not sure if I would have to create several different planes for each curved line or what the best way to complete the slope and thickness of the pool floor. I posted a couple of examples on the website you listed.
