Hello,
I have been reading through some material on Digital Communications. I have a doubt when I came across Pulse Code modulation. Is it the only form of pulse modulation that is suitable for analog data transmission. Any kind of inputs would be helpful. Thanks.

If you don't want to digitize - i.e. you must/want to transmit in analog form -- your only choices are DC
or AC -- with amplitude, phase, frequency modulation. --

The Pulse modulation is a variety of AC . You can use pulse
width, frequency or phase modulation.

The choice is not simple - you have to know the noise, its
properties, required accuracy etc.

Do you want to transmit by wire,IR by air or fiber or RF ? what is the distance? What king of accuracy ? cost consideration ? Circuit size limits?
