is pure oxygen cost effective in industrial fermentation?

I was researching how to control DO in fermentation process can read the article (

saying pure oxygen can be used to increase the DO in fermentation.
My question is if pure oxygen is only used in lab scale fermentation research? or is pure oxygen also routinely used in industrial fermentation? does the cost of pure oxygen justify its use?

It depends on purity.
There are membrane and pressure swing absorption units that can give you >98% oxygen.
If that is good enough then it is likely worth it.
If you have to use high purity LOx then I doubt that the numbers would work out.
