Is there a replacement product for EmbassyWorks?

Anybody out there doing cable & harness design in their solid models & getting usable documentation output? EmbassyWorks, the only package I knew of that did that in SolidWorks, is discontinued. AutoDesk has purchased Linius, the company who developed EmbassyWorks (the SolidWorks add-in version of Embassy).

I avoid the electrical side of things to the best of my ability, but have been thrust into helping clean up a bunch of cable & harness drawings. I'm no electrical expert, but it sure seems to me there's a better method than trial and error, and documenting in AutoCAD as you go.

I'd love to offer input on how my employer can improve the way this is done, but without EmbassyWorks as an option, I'm at a loss.

Any success stories and/or suggestions on taming the electical beast, with or without the use of 3D design?

Thanks

Jon,
We are also trying to replace Embassy at a reasonable cost. I really liked the way Embassy worked. For several years now, our big problem has been the schematic capture program to work with Embassy. We have tried Schema, Tango Pro, OrCAD, Promis-e, and Visio. Currently we are trying Visio, but the net list just does not come out right. When you find an answer to the Embassy and schematic capture issue, I would like to know.
Thank you,

Bradley

Ok here's the skinny...

Autodesk has decided to discontinue the EMbassyWorks product, and is rejecting all new orders from SolidWorks customers and resellers. Existing customers will be supported for the immediate future. As a result of their decision to discontinue EMbassyWorks, Solidworks has terminated their partner relationship with Linius, and have removed them from their website.

As for a replacement product, there is now news yet. But I am certain that someone will step up to the plate.

But for now existing customers will be supported althought I know that it is difficult to get a live body on the phone.. response seems to be only via email at this momoent..

More to follow when I receive information.

Hang loose

The new tubing router in SW2004 looks like it could be easily adapted to do wiring with a little creativity, so I asked about their plans for this. I was told look for about SP3 time frame.

We also do a lot of cable routes, but have no use for all the other options in Embassy's horrendously expensive (and frankly not that great) product. Frankly I don't think they have much time left in this world. They never sold a huge number of copies as far as I could tell.

3/4 of all the Spam produced goes to Hawaii - shame that's not true of SPAM also.......
