I have an assembly part family (six components in an assembly that are all each a different part family's template part) that has PMI calling out the component's PN and description, and have confirmed that the PMI annotation updates associatively as the top level assembly part family generates its children, where the spreadsheet is swapping out the assembly components to different part family children of each component's respective part family.
The issue is that one of the 6 assembly components gets suppressed away (or rather is just not included) in some of the assembly part family children, meaning there is a "Retained" PMI annotation pointing to the empty space where the component used to be located. I've found (via that in NX 12 there is a new feature to suppress retained PMI, which is exactly what I need.
I am now trying to find a way to accomplish the same thing, but in NX 10. Does anyone know of a way to get Retained PMI to auto-suppress itself in NX10? This needs to happen during the part family generation process, since you cannot modify part family children files.
