Is there any way to show percentage of a total unit in the Qty column in the BOM?

In an upper assembly, we use some lengths of chain or cable. These show up in the BOM as a qty of 1. This is correct as there is only 1 of that item. The QTY column is defined as $~Q. What I'm looking at is that if we use 5 ft of a purchased total qty of 20 ft of chain, is there any way to have the Qty column show .25 instead of a qty of 1? Is there a way to do this other than create a new attribute in the BOM and enter the value there. the reason I'm asking is we're integrating our Teamcenter into SAP and the SAP people would like this feature if possible.

On the other hand you still have 1 chain no matter the length...
- No to my knowledge, neither have i seen this practice IRL.

What we do is use a different column "specification" where the length among other attributes can be present.
Make sure that this , the other column , is a "Key Field" , then if you have 2 chains but with differing lengths , you will ( with key field) get 2 lines in the BOM. Else you get one line w 2 chains.

"...you still have 1 chain no matter the length"...That's been my argument on this from the beginning. I also have never seen this in IRL and didn't know if it had ever been tried, let alone successfully implemented.

Using a different column and attribute was, and is, my answer to this request. I said that I would try to find a solution so I asked.

Good point about the "Key Field", I'll remember it, thanks.
