Is this a Win 7 issue? - View when returning to SolidWorks

Hi,

Like most users, I usually have more programs than just SolidWorks open. I am greatly irritated that if I have been looking at another application, when I return to Solidworks I can never get back to the view I want straight away. I'll try to explain further;

So, I have SWX running and have say, 2 part files and 2 assemblies open. I select my mail client or Firefox and then want to get back to SolidWorks. I hover the cursor over SolidWorks in the task bar. A small icon for each of the parts and assemblies open in Solidworks pops up so it's easy to select the one I want to go to. Well, that's the issue; In this example, I have 2 part files and 2 assemblies so that should mean 4 icons above the task bar. But there isn't, there is only 3!! And it's rarely the window I want. All I can do is select one of them and then, when in SolidWorks again, go to WINDOW at the top and select the viewport I want from the drop down list. What should be a single step is always two.

Why are they not all there in the task bar??

Any suggestions?

How much RAM do you have? How much is free? They're probably paging out while you do other things. Do you see a big page file hit in resource monitor when you return to Solidworks?

Just had a good look. 8Gb installed and looking at the resourse monitors, there is more than 5Gb free and no particular surge in useage when going back to SWX.

I've seen the same thing on the rare occasion that I use the icons to go back to SolidWorks. I'm more of an 'alt+tab' kind of switcher between programs, followed by 'ctrl+tab' if the part I want isn't displayed. What I have also noticed is that the part that isn't showing is the one that is active if you 'alt+tab' back into SolidWorks.
