Hi all

I don't think this is possible to create using NX sheetmetal, but thought I would ask incase I'm missing a trick. Modelling normally and taking a flat pattern using the correct bend allowance formula will do if not.

Many thanks1

Best regards

This is basically the same issue which DieMAN44 is going to have with his model, and for the same reasons, this not a suitable NX Sheet Metal model.

However, that being said, you may wish to look into the Aerospace Sheet Metal module which is similar to the basic NX Sheet Metal in many respects expect that it has tools for more complex shapes. In fact, the situation you show in your model is what's known in the Aerospace world as a 'Joggle', offsetting a flanged member so a to allow another piece of material to overlap, Generally the 'Joggle' only creates an offset equal to the thickness of the material but this is a user controlled variable so you can make it deeper than one would expect in an Aerospace situation so it could be done. Of course, in the Aerospace world they are usually dealing with thin materials made of highly ductile metals.

John,

Do you have any information on Areospace sheet metal?

If you open up your Help document and go to the Design -> Sheet Metal section you should find documentation for both NX Sheet Metal and Aerospace Sheet Metal.

However, if you're looking for something which describes, in Marketing terms, what the features and benefits of using the Aerospace Sheet Metal package provides, go to:
