I have a tangential nozzles welded to a pressure vessel.

I have to calculate the local stresses at nozzle / shell interface. Is WRC 107 applicable for tangential attachement ?

If not, is there any other easy way to determin local stresses.

Thanks,

Generally, the answer is "no" and "no". WRC 107 and WRC 297 are set up for radial nozzles only. If the nozzle is only slightly hill-sided, they should be a good approximation for it. Otherwise, you're probably looking at a FEM problem to determine stresses. I don't know if any of the normal vessel software includes that kind of analysis.

There is also a "Boiler and Pressure Vessel Engineering" forum, you might check there as well.
