Isolation Contactor 1

What is the purpose of a isolation contactor(IC) on a Smart Motor Controller(SMC), and why does the enclosure for the SMC have to be bigger then a SMC without a IC?

Hello;
The SMC motorstarter is an electronic device and in the off condition the load is not completely isolated from the line. There will be a small leakage current through the starter. As for a larger enclosure it is probably due to space requirements.
