ISOMETRIC SECTIONS in 2D environment

Hi All,

How can I section ISOMETRIC VIEWS in the 2D environment?

I have a driveshaft assy, which I want to show in isometric position in my drawing with a 120 degree cut out. to show it's internal parts clearly assembled.

Inventor even advertises with this feature (see link below)

Create a base view that looks at the driveshaft from the end. Do a section view from wherever you want the 120 degrees oriented, then do an isometric projected view of the resulting projection. Drop me a line if any questions.

Thanks for your reply, but it still is not working.

perhaps because we use IV 10?

I make a base view looking at the shaft end
Then I make a section through the hart which can only be projected by the section line(s). So within this command is no option for isometric projection.

Once the view is placed, I cannot make another projected view of the sectioned view. The view doesn't lit up like other views do.


So perhaps you can explain me your workflow in detail.

You will have to place the section view first. It will need to be aligned with the base view initially. If you want to move it away from the alignment, right click on the view, go to the "alignment" and choose "break". Then you can place wherever. You can place it off the sheet if you would like.
Then do a projected isometric view from the section view and place wherever you want.
If you want it shaded, I prefer to leave all the other views simple lines, and then shade the final view with tangent edges removed. That will save some file size and load time. I BELIEVE that once you create the projected isometric section view you can delete the other view...I THINK but not 100% sure.

Thank you all for your input. It seems my problem lays in one of the parts of my assembly which is preventing the isometric cross-section. I tried it with other parts and it works properly.
